Things to do: Bali, Indonesia

I feel like every few years a destination becomes the “it” spot for travel. I think in the mid-2010s, that spot was Bali Indonesia. I visited Bali in September 2018 with my mom and it was an incredibly special trip.

Bali is a unique destination and has something for everyone, here are some of my favorite memories from this incredible place:

Hike Mount Batur

Mount Batur is a sunrise hike in Bali which starts early in the AM. The hike is not long and I would describe it as moderate since it’s steep and slippery. Hikers around just in time for sunrise and see the clouds part over the mountains. Truly a beautiful experience.

Walk the rice paddies

Bali is a tropical paradise and filled with rice paddies. Visitors can walk the rice paddies at their own pace and take in the gorgeous scenery. I visited the Tegallalang Rice Terrace and it was beautiful!

Take a coffee tour

Authentic Balinese coffee cannot be missed while traveling to Bali. Coffee tasting is available vastly throughout Bali and most come with a view to pair.

Take a dip in Banyumala Waterfall

We took a car up from Ubud to northern Bali and visited the Banyumala Waterfalls…and it was 100% worth the drive. The waterfalls are located down a steep set of stairs. Follow the signs on the road and be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

A trip to Bali is not complete without a visit to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. The sanctuary is a Hindu temple which is home to over 1200 monkeys. Visitors can walk the area and if you are lucky, a monkey will join you and maybe even share a banana.
